Summary about the Conference (by Nasrin Jahan Jinia)

I went to Bangladesh to attend the INSEARCH 2018 5th International Integrative Research Conference on Governance and Modernization in Changing Environment held on 18-19 December, 2018 at Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), Comilla. The conference is organized by Netinsearch International, Center for Administrative Research and Innovation -University of Dhaka, Department of Public Administration- Stamford University Bangladesh, Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) and GAIN International. Netinsearch is a big research platform for both senor and junior researchers. Academics, researchers and development practitioners across the world (USA, Canada, Australia, China, India, Finland and Bangladesh) have participated in the conference. Six key notes and about 120 research papers (in 30 parallel sessions) are presented during the conference.

I along with my co-author have our own presentation. The title of our paper was gender inequality and sustainable development. We have received very good comments on the paper from session chair and other participants. I have also participated as a discussant in two parallel sessions. This was a unique and first experience in my academic life and a good opportunity to know about the different issues around the world related to good governance and sustainable development.

I have got the opportunity to meet scholars from different fields and disciplines during the conference. There was another participant from the University of Lapland. So I had also good discussion with him. I also met with the conference organizers and scholars working in the field of gender inequality and sustainable development. In addition, I had a long discussion with Dr.  Sharif As-Saber (Chairperson, GAIN International, Director, Master of International Business Program, RMIT University, Australia) about the possible scope of research cooperation. Moreover, I met with some professors from the University of Dhaka, University of Comilla, Stamford University Dhaka, Rajshahi University and Kushtia Islamic University. I tried to explore the opportunities of research network with Bangladeshi Universities. In a nutshell, the conference was very successful to me and I have learned a lot from the scholars across the world.
