The department of Development studies at Islamic University Bangladesh jointly organized the international conference on Sustainability and Sustainable Development from 8-9, March 2020 with the Department of Development Studies of the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The International Conference as one of the most important and historic events at the Islamic university brought together academia, scholars and students interested in the field of sustainable development from different countries like Bangladesh, Japan, Finland, India and Nepal to identify contextual theoretical framework, practical problems and evidence-based solutions towards achieving Sustainable Development and environmental care. Professor Anja Heikkinen, emerita of Tampere University and Dr. Shamsul Alam, Honorable Member (Senior Secretary) of Planning commission of Bangladesh Government were the Keynote speakers of the conference (see Conference Abstract book). As a form of technical collaboration, SUDE-VET on behalf of the EquJust research group of the Faculty of Education and Culture of Tampere University participated and presented papers in the conference virtually on the second session of the second day 9th March 2020 of conference.  The keynote speech of Professor Anja Heikkinen was on Education for planetary sustainability: tackling environmental degradation, social and economic inequality and forced migration’ which has brought attention and interest of the participant specially on understanding the concept of vocational education in different perspective of sustainable development instead of traditional vocational education concept in South Asian region.
